Jackie Drakeford, Jr.

Jackie Leon Drakeford Jr. passed away December 30, 2023. He was born August 17, 1970 in Charlotte NC to Jackie Leon Drakeford Sr. (Geneva) and the late Alice Cowan Drakeford.

"Coach Jackie" was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School in 1989. He joined his friends, the late Tony Brown, Richard Hall and Willie Jefferson at the Community Schools of Davidson where he was the head coach for over 10 years. He loved the school, staff,  kids and parents (past and present) as if they were his immediate family.  He loved to speak about basketball to anyone that would listen. He always wanted to know "What's your next play" and his favorite quote was "There is no 50/50. Its 100% from you and 100% from me.

Jackie leaves to cherish his memory:
His loving wife, Shanna, whom he had been with for 28 years, 2 sons, D'Andreis Drakeford (Ashleigh) of Aurora CO. and CJ Drakeford of Charlotte NC. 2 grandchildren; Skyler Drakeford and Dakota Drakeford, 2 sisters; Shenna Drakeford (Kevin) of Charlotte NC,  and Chanta Perry (Bodrick) of Rock Hill, SC, 1 brother, Ryan Drakeford of Fort Mill, SC, his best friends and cousins James "Scooner" Cowan and Rodney Black. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
