A Life Remembered I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. -2 Timothy 4:7-8 Jacqueline Newman Funderburk’s life has left a mark on the lives of many. “Jackie”, as she was affectionately known, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2020, surrounded by the comfort and care of her loving family. Jackie was the daughter of the late Robert “Buck” Newman, Sr., and Elease Hough Newman. Jackie was born on February 22, 1949 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was around 5 years old when her parents, seeking a better life, relocated the family to Charlotte. She graduated in the Class of 1967 from Second Ward High School. Jackie was also a graduate of Electronic Computer Programming Institute where she obtained a degree in computer programming. Jackie began employment in the 1970’s with First Union National Bank, now known as Wells Fargo. She worked in various departments of the bank. Her last position was as a supervisor in the Corporate Trust Department. She retired in 2014. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Newman, Jr. Jacqueline Newman Funderburk leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 52 years, William; her children: daughter, Seritha Funderburk Evans and son-in-law, Bruce Evans, of Clarksburg, MD; son, Marcus E. Funderburk and daughter-in-law, Errica Funderburk; son, Kevin N. Funderburk; Sister, Seritha Newman Nelson (Ronald); Aunts: Eva N. Myers of Pageland, SC and Amanda Jackson of Brooklyn, NY; Uncle, David Sellers of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren; a special niece, Rondah E.
