In Gaston County, NC to the late James Crawford Sr. and Lucinda Farms Crawford. He departed his life on August 8, 2022.James attended the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He retired from PC Godfrey.

James leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of sixty-one years, Juanita Gatewood Crawford, a son Gerald (Audrey) Crawford, daughters Marie Davis, Marisa Soublet, and Jamie Bennett. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. One sister, Mildred Grines of Cleveland, OH. Two sister-in-laws, Ola Mae Taylor and Mildred Staton of Marshville, NC. A host of nieces and nephews. Two godsons, Amar Johnson and Eric Anthony. Three grand godsons, Quan Benton, Zek DellaMonica, and Kyon Jones. Two God daughters, Nannie (Bruce) Ellis, and Shirley Roundtree. Five special cousins Willette Boyd, Haywood (Diane) Phifer, Robert (Gloria) Paddy Falls, Tommy (Mary) Crawford, Lucille McElhaney. Special friends Wallace Pruitt, Alice (Willie) Green, Olivette (Linda) Samuels, Tim (Angela) Hairston and Ann Hughey.
