James V. Crowder, Jr.

James Crowder Jr. was born on June 6, 1957, to Gloria Ballard and James Crowder Sr. He departed this life at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, June 8, 2025.

He attended the school system in Brooklyn, N.Y., P.S. 129, Montalk J.H.S., and graduated from Franklin Delenor Roosevelt High School in 1975. He then went to work at Vins Motor Services with his father, James Crowder, as a mechanic.

His favorite hobby was playing music. He was a D.J. He loved playing at parties and dancing.

He leaves behind his daughter Tamika Jones and grandchildren Mervyn Jones, Chantel Jones, Crystal Jones, and a number of great-grands. His sister Carolyn Simpson, his favorite nieces and nephews: Toemars and Jahmel Levell, Raymond, and Louis, McCrae Samantha McCrae , LaToya Talford, Omar Rich, Eric Bembury, Shaberia Crowder, and Nina Davis, and a host of more nephews and nieces.

He preceded in death with his father, James Crowder Sr., mother Gloria Ballard Crowder, sister Diana J. Crowder, Vivian S. Crowder, 2 brothers: Westley & Vincent Crowder, grandmother Annie Crowder, and grandfather Jackson Massenburg, and 1 daughter, Crystal Crowder.
