JAMES PATRICK DYE was born February 15, 1944, to the late George Lee Dye and the late Blanche Halsey Dye of Charlotte, NC. He entered Heaven's Gate Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
At an early age, James joined Shiloh Baptist Church and surrendered his life to Christ. James attended the Mecklenburg County school system, graduating from Plato Price High School and Central Piedmont Community College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After leaving Service he found employment with the City of Charlotte where he worked as an equipment operator for 25 years.
In the early 70's James married Vernell Grier and made his home in Charlotte, NC. James and Vernell loved and helped raise three of Vernell's nephews, DheOhmei, Larry, and Kendall Foxx. James loved these boys as his own and he loved doing things for them. James spent time teaching, sharing, loving, helping and advising them how to be a man.
After retiring from the City of Charlotte, James loved to work in his yard, garden and sit in his chair in the front yard and smile. James loved to shop anytime and anywhere.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell G. Dye; one brother, Tommy Halsey; and two sisters, Delores Dye Gary and Georgia Dye Mason.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two brothers, Charles Dye (Deborah) and William Dye, both of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
