Mr. James Ervin Horton was born March 12, 1942 in Pageland, South Carolina to the late Mrs. Annie Mae Horton and Mr. Frank Horton. He was educated in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He was employed at Doggett Construction Company in Charlotte for many years, until he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, where he was an active member of the Broad River Hunting Club, and deep sea fishing. He also enjoyed spending time on his CB, where he was known to most as 37, and spending time with family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Horton, aunt, Janie Mae Jennings, daughter, Mary Ann Fields –Curry, two granddaughters, Keisha Crowder and Lakeisha Douglas.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife Johnnie Mae Horton; four sons, David Fields, Donnie Fields (Rozetta), Tony Fields, and Johnny Fields; two daughters Angerine Johnson (Johny), and Anndora Fields, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; six brother-in-laws and eight sister-in-laws, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1pm at New Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in York Memorial Park.
