James Andrew Yancey, Sr.

James A. Yancey, Sr., 89, of Charlotte departed this life on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, NC. He was born in Oxford, NC, on February 2, 1932, to the late Clemon and Lucy Yancey.

Mr. Yancey is survived by one son, James A. Yancey, Jr. (Rose); two daughters, Michelle S. Yancey and Stephanie Y. Carter; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Nannie Y. Royster, Madeline Randolph, Mary Y. Epps (Wiley) and Sally Landis (Otis) of Oxford, NC, and Cora Nell Davis of Henderson, NC; one brother, Marshall Yancey (Yolanda) of Louisville, KY; an “adopted” son, Darryl Patterson, of Charlotte, NC; a special friend, Juanita Eison, of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
