The Broken Chain”
We little knew that morning, that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same;
but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Daughter, Granddaughter & Friend
Jasmin Rena Flores, the only child born to Yvette Cody and Pedro Flores, was born on October 1, 1993, in
Charlotte, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the tender age of 22.
Jasmin attended Evelyn Mack Academy and graduated from
Independence High School. She recently graduated from the Art
Institute of Charlotte with a degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Jasmin had an infectious laugh; she was always a good-spirited person and very family oriented. She loved her family, immensely and was
always at family functions supporting others. One of her favorite holidays was Thanksgiving….she had a good appetite. She was loyal and would do anything for people for whom she cared. She maintained strong bonds of friendship as she had the same friends throughout her life.
She worked as a bridal consultant at David's Bridal.
She had ambitions of moving to Atlanta to become a fashion
stylist and was in the process of making this goal a reality. She had a true knack for fashion. We thank God for our daughter, niece, cousin, godmother, and friend Jasmin. She will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Linda Howard, her grandfather Joel Ross, Sr. and her grandfather Pedro Flores, Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Yvette Cody (Melvin) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and father, Pedro Flores (Darlene) of Charlotte; grandmother, Liz Simpson (Joe) of Wisconsin, great-grandmother, Ethel Simpson of Charlotte; aunts, Juanita Mekwuye (Frank) of Charlotte, Antoinette Cody of Matthews,Tonyelle Ross of Columbia, SC., Zoraida F. Bailey and Jerpazzala Potts, of Charlotte; uncles Joel Ross, Jr., of Columbia, SC and Antonio Flores of Charlotte; goddaughter, Nakiyah Haymes of Charlotte; special cousins Tommy, Latonya, Ricky, Shabet, Ashana, AJ, Ciara, Shajuann, Demarcus, Jordan, Jaden, Aja, Devyn, Shayla, Curtis, Javontae, Shakeah, Arlisa, Jalisa; a special friend, Taylor Caldwell; special childhood friends, Tarey McCloud, T’Sheila Mungo, Brittney Davis and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jasmin, from our first encounter you had a beautiful spirit,
Late nights, long weekends, those F2D parties were lit.
You remained the same even as years grew,
You never changed for no one or acted brand new.
Your smile, your laugh, your hair stayed on fleek,
It was just the beginning until you were at your peak.
From your ambition to your deeply compassion,
You were the next biggest thing when it came to fashion.
Down to ride for anyone to the very end,
You were just that loving, honest, loyal friend.
It was tragic to hear that you had died,
But I find comfort knowing your an angel by our side.
I know your in heaven still slaying the game,
Always know that on the east we will still hear your name.
You, Mungo, and Britt always traveled in three,
When I seen one I seen two that's how it always would be.
Tears will continue to fall and yes I will still cry,
For I'm in disbelief and I can only ask God why.
When the stars continue to shine oh so bright,
I know it's you smiling with those pearly whites.
So as I end this poem for my dear friend Jassy,
You taught one thing that in the streets keep it classy.
~ Love you, Aaron McCorkle
