JERELEAN SELLERS
Jerelean Blakeney Sellers, age eighty – two, was born on January 7, 1940, to Gladys and David
Blakeney Sr. She was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in North Carolina. She departed
this life August 30, 2022.
Jerelean attended school in Anson County where she received her High School Diploma. During
that time, Jerelean met her longtime husband Benjamin James Sellers. Jerelean and Ben were a
union for 50 plus years. Jerelean was a faithful and dedicated member of Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church,
where she served in many capacities. She served on many church boards as well as sang on different choirs.
Jerelean was a God – fearing Christian woman. She devoted her time to those in need and gave
whatever she was able to do. Jerelean was employed at AMP Incorporated for 30 plus years
where she retired. Jerelean enjoyed family time traveling and enjoying life with her grandchildren.
Jerelean was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Rorie, husband Benjamin
and her daughter Jeanette (Alfred). She leaves her wonderful children to cherish
her beautiful memory: Bertram James, Dora Ann, Tony Reynard, Shirlane S.
Smallwood (Brian) of Charlotte, and Kenneth Lee (Brenda) of South Carolina.
Two grand daughters she raised Latavia and Janelle, One sister Shirley Coletrane one brother
David Jr Blakeney, 5 Sisters in law Doretha Sellers, Beulah Mae Redfern, Rosetta Bennett, Margaret Knotts
(Jimmy) and Delores Sellers. One brother-in- law Jasper Sellers, Preceded in death
Raymond Coletrane, Lafayette, John P , and Walter B.
She also leaves 22 Grandchildren, 42 Great – Grandchildren, and 12 Great – Great – Grandchildren that will
miss her tremendously.
