Jerome Curt McCullough (affectionately known as "Dude") peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, December 28, 2020, while at home. Jerome was born July 10, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the son of Grace McCullough Welch and the late James Welch. Jerome was educated in the Mecklenburg County School System, where he attended the all black Isabell Wyche Elementary School, York Road High 7th-10th grade, and West Charlotte High School, where he graduated in 1968. Proudly serving in the US Army from 1973-1977, Jerome did a tour in Korea and received a National Defense Service Medal and earned qualifications in marksmanship. He was also employed at Coca-Cola and Carolina Plastics. Jerome was a faithful member of the Greater Galilee Baptist Church for close to 40 years, where Dr. Robert L. McGowens is the Senior Pastor. Jerome enjoyed attending as many Class & Family Reunions as possible. He had a great affection for the York Road High School Reunions, where you were sure to see him "Cut a Rug" listening to his favorite Motown Sounds while dressed to the nines with his Stetson Brim in tough. He was also a "Cheesehead" (true Green Bay Packers Fan)! Jerome leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Grace Welch; five siblings, Margaret Ross, James "Bobby" McCullough, Lou Ann "Queen" Gaston, Janice Harris (Larry), and Michael Welch (Roz); eight nieces and nephews, Angela McCullough Baxter (Spunky), Christian Ross (Ayanna), Nakia McCullough, Wayne Gaston, Brittany Harris, Lauren McCullough, Kayla Harris, and Michael Harris; two aunts, Willette Love and Pearl Welch; seven great-nieces and -nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
