Jerome, affectionately known as “Jimmy” by his close family, was born in Baltimore, MD on June 30, 1939. Jerome grew up in Baltimore, MD and often visited Charlotte, NC where his parents were born. Jerome was a city man with a country boy’s heart. He was a sharp dresser and loved gardening and cooking! Jerome joined the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper. He served his country honorably and bravely. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Jerome went to work for United Parcel Service (UPS). Jerome became a shop steward and worked for UPS for over 40 years. He retired from UPS and spent his years in retirement serving others. Jerome volunteered at Loaves and Fishes, a local food pantry in Charlotte, for many years. Jerome was also a man of faith and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang in the men’s choir for many decades. Jerome was a wise and knowledgeable man. He could hold a conversation on just about everything from local and international politics, to climate change, technology, cars and sports! He read the newspaper every day! Jerome loved sports and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, the Colts and the Baltimore Ravens. He was also a huge Carolina Panthers fan owning a permanent seat license (PSL) and held season tickets since the opening of the Panthers Stadium. He loved a good tailgate party! Jerome is preceded in death by 3 of his children, Cynthia Morrow, Jerome V. Dewitt, Keith Morrow and his sister Carol Height. Jerome is survived by the love of his life, Beverly Martin Morrow. They were married for 33 years. Jerome is also survived by his siblings Mary Nancy Welch and William Hazel Height, his loving children Druscilla Morrow, Mia Carr, Bridgette Morrow, Jerome V. Morrow Jr, Daryl Hightower and Darlene Williamson, 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who adored and loved him. Jerome will be dearly missed.
