Jerry Williams was born April 8, 1943 in Louisville, MS to the Late Milton A. Williams Sr. and Lizzie B. Williams. He was the oldest of four children, and he departed peacefully on March 25 th , 2018.
He attended Warren G. Harding High School, where he graduated in 1961. He was voted the most popular by the women, and enjoyed playing tennis and hanging out at Packard Park. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for 2 years where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic at Ft. Campbell, KY. During his tenure, he earned the Rank of Specialist 5, (E5). He also earned other awards that included Sharpshooter, as well as the Defense Service Medal. After his Honorable Discharge in 1966, he began his career with Hewlett Packard/EDS, where he faithfully worked and retired after 30 years of service as a Computer Operator.
“JayBird” as he was called by love ones, was a father figure, brother, uncle, and friends to many. His smooth, laid-back, demeanor, always made him a good person to talk to. His pride and joy was his family, especially his Daughter, Nicole. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching sports with his Son-in Law, Kelvin. He was a faithful Cleveland Brown fan to the end. He also liked watching Family Feud with his grandchildren, Judge shows with his Caregiver, Clara, and eating candy and ice cream in between as a snack. However, a good Western and TV Land will put him to sleep everytime. Jerry knew the Lord at an early age and was a proud and faithful member of Wings of Faith Ministries (Atlanta, GA) before he moved to Charlotte. He later joined New Beginnings Community Church, where he was baptized on May 7, 2013 and enjoyed listening to the Word of God from his Pastor, Dr. Michael L. Henderson.
Jerry leaves to cherish his Precious Daughter, Nicole Nelson (Kelvin), Four Grandchildren, Ken’i, Kameron, Trayvien, and Kelvin; two Great Grandchildren, his Daughter, Sonya Booth, his Sister, Jacquelyn Taylor, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Milton A. Williams Jr., and sister, Janet “Cackie” Ervin. He was loved and will be missed by many!!
