Johnny Wright, Sr.

Mr. Johnny Wright, Sr., affectionately called "June Bug", was born on June 4, 1938, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Mr. Johnny Mobley and Mrs. Mary Wright Dunbar. He was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, and immediately after graduation he joined the United States Army at the young age of 17. His army career excelled, and he rapidly moved up the ranks as a drill sergeant in the 82nd airborne. He was honorably discharged in 1973 due to a severe leg injury in the Vietnam War. While living on base at Ft. Jackson, his favorite pass-time activities included long early morning walks, self-guided tours of the base, and eating Chick-fil-A and Golden Corral. Mr. Johnny Wright, Sr. was preceded in death by son Johnny Wright, Jr.; daughter Traci Michelle Gold; granddaughter LaNea Elizabeth Wright; mother and five siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter: Sharon Simpson (John); four sons: Robert Wright, Ronald Wright (LaNetta), Christopher Wright, and Kristian Wright; three brothers: Eugene Wright (Joyce), John Dunbar (Vickey), and James Dunbar (Charmaine); two sisters: Lucille Haywood (James), and Dorothy Stevens of Engelwood, New Jersey; uncle: Boyd Wright, Jr. (Janet); James Anderson of Rock Hill, South Carolina; seven grandchildren: Shanda Phillips, Charity Boseman (Julius), Emmanuel Simpson, JaNae Simpson, LaNesha Wright, LaNedra Wright, and Chelsea Wright; three great-grandchildren: Piper Boseman, Jordon Dye, and Boston Simpson; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
