Joyce Bright Forney was born on December 26th, 1964, to the late Peggy Latten Bright and James Bright, Jr. She departed from her earthly life to her heavenly life on Sunday, May 2nd, 2021, at her residence with her Son Rickey, Grandson Logan, and Sister Marlo.
Joyce was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system where she attended West Charlotte High School of Charlotte, NC and graduated in 1986. She was a long-time member of the orchestra where she played piano, organ, cello, and guitar. In addition, she learned to play the harmonica. She was also a member of the police explorers program, in which she completed the police academy, as well as the JROTC throughout her time in school and ended in higher ranks by the time of her departure from school. Joyce then served a short term in the army. Thereafter she worked for various companies in the Charlotte and Mooresville area until settling into the role of dedicated housewife and God-fearing mother.
Joyce raised her family in Gethsemane Baptist Church of Davidson, NC, as she had been a member throughout her life. She frequented gospel music concerts and events within the surrounding states with her friends and family, for she loved music and the Lord and loved to sing herself. In August of the year 2000, after several trials of life shaking her faith, she re-committed her life to Christ at a Williams Brothers concert in Augusta, GA.
Joyce was preceded in death by her loving Mother and 1 brother, Starr Bright. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory a devoted, God-fearing father; three children: Matec Graham, Rickey Forney, Jr., and Dametrius Forney; 2 grandchildren: Logan Graham and Kaeden Jetton; one brother, Marlon Bright (Tondra); one sister, Marlo Bright; 2 Aunts, Vonda Latten and Linda Hickson; 1 Uncle, Harper B Latten, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
