Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Juanita Reid Burton Mrs. Juanita Burton, daughter of the late Bessie Carr and Thomas M. Reid Sr. was born July 8, 1930, in Charlotte, North Carolina and departed this life Friday, August 14, 2020, at Saturn Nursing Home. For 6 years Mrs. Juanita lived with her grandparents Thomas & Mollie Reid in New York where she attended public school , in the summers she would live with her mother in Charlotte, N.C., she enjoyed sharing her New York experiences with her grandchildren.. Ms. Juanita met the love of her life Frento M. Burton Sr. when she came to Charlotte the summer of 1948, after 6 mos. of courting they were marry on August 13, 1948. This union was blessed with six children. Times were hard for the young couple during those depression years; Ms. Juanita did domestic work and assisted her husband with the family business called Frento’s Lunch Wagon. Ms. Juanita was a model Christian wife and mother, she recorded in her Bible that her most treasured events were when she and her beloved husband gave their life to Jesus Christ, when she witness the graduations of her children and grandchildren from high school/college, and the birth of each of her precious grandchildren. A devoted friend too many who were blessed to have known her, her family witness very long and regular calls to her many friends. She was an active member of St. Mark Methodist Church where she served as a Deaconess for many years, and a member of The Senior Citizen West Trade Sunshine Club. Ms. Juanita had her share of sickness, Polio and a double mastectomy but she never gave up. We celebrate that God blessed her to be a 40 years Breast Cancer Survivor! She was a strong supporter of education for her family, at the age of 61, she enrolled in Central Piedmont and completed the Certified Nurse Assistant I program which allowed her to work as a caregiver for several years. She was a concerned citizen, she looked forward to exercising her right to vote even when she was a resident of the nursing home. At her 80th birthday celebration she encouraged everyone to not get weary but to stay strong and to do their best in everything. After 90 years of a full and beautiful life Ms. Juanita Burton leaves to cherish her memories three children, Frento Miller Burton Jr. (Linda), Margaret Thompson, Ruby Davis. Three children (Thomas Burton, James Burton, Gloria Brown, and two grandchildren (Major Thomas Burton Jr, & Shania Hammonds preceded Ms. Juanita to the grave. Her legacy will continue to live through 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great- grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. ReplyForward
