Juanita Foman Oliver was born on August 4, 1947, in Charlotte, NC. On September 18,
2025, she gained her heavenly wings in Hampton, GA, after a lengthy battle with breast
cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents Trustee Charles Foman and Josephine
Foman, and grandson DeMarco Cathcart.
Juanita attended Alexander Street Elementary School and was a Class of 1965
graduate of Second Ward High School, both located in Charlotte, NC. Juanita attended
Central Piedmont Community College and ECPI to broaden her knowledge in Computer
Science.
She had an extensive employment history, including at Tuber Tailor Shop, Montaldo’s
Exclusive Woman’s Department Store, and 36 years at the United States Postal
Service. During her time at the Postal Service, she held the following positions: Manual
Clerk, LSM Clerk, Supervisor of Mail, Tour Supervisor, and Revenue Assurance Analyst.
While working as a Revenue Assurance Analyst for the Mid Atlantic area, she was
awarded several times for excellent achievements and outstanding service.
She was actively engaged in her community., serving as a member of several breast
cancer awareness organizations, including Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Juanita attended Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church Sunday School at an early age.
She joined Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church also at an early age, and remained a
member for over 70 years. While a member at Greater Mt. Sinai, she served as Junior
Usher, was a member of the Junior Choir, was a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Leader,
and was a member of Sunday School Class #4.
Juanita leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters Angela Oliver Cathcart (Thomas) of
Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer Oliver Baynes (Oneal) of Hampton, GA.
Grandchildren: Alexis Cathcart of Charlotte, NC; Genesis Walcott and Ella Baynes of
Hampton, GA.
Sisters: Barbara Foman McKenzie of Southfield, MI; Jacqueline Foman Gunter (Dwight)
of Charlotte, NC; and Charlene Foman of Charlotte, NC.
Nieces and Nephews: Alvin Foman (Shirley) of Goose Creek, SC; Edison Gunter II of
Kernersville, NC; Erin Gunter of Charlotte, NC; and Raphael McKenzie of East Lansing,
MI.
Great Nieces and Nephews: Edison Gunter III and Emily Gunter of Kernersville, NC;
Ana Foman of Goose Creek, SC; and Lennox McKenzie of East Lansing, MI.
Special thanks to Eric Oliver of Charlotte, NC, and CNA Jennifer Frazier Godfrey and
the staff of Sacred Journey Hospice Care, both of Hampton, GA.
Though her journey was not easy, having endured breast cancer on three different
occasions, she fought a good fight and ran a good race. The family thanks you for your
outward expression of sympathy and all of your support throughout the years.
