Lacy Hoover Johnson Sr. born to Nellie Ann Bostic Johnson and Roosevelt Johnson on August 25, 1929, in Laurinburg NC.
Lacy Hoover Johnson Sr.** (also known as Brown) began his life in Laurinburg, NC, where he married Helen Johnson. He completed three years of schooling before working as a farmhand to help provide for his family. He attended Holly Grove Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC, where he gave his life to Christ. For recreation, Lacy and his brother trained and tamed wild horses in his spare time, leading to a great passion for Western movies later in life.
With dreams of a better life for his family, Lacy moved to Charlotte, NC, where he raised his ten children. He retired from Grace Memorial Baptist Church and later from Holiday Inn Hotel. He encouraged each of his children to work hard towards their goals.
When his children were asked what they remembered most about their father, they replied:
"Daddy was a jack of all trades."
"He provided for us."
"Daddy loved to dress in nice suits."
"Daddy was strict.
Being a jack of all trades, Lacy sold women appeal out of his van until opening his storefront on Wilkinson Blvd, which has made him an entrepreneur.
Lacy Hoover Johnson Sr. loved clean cars—particularly Cadillacs— motorcycles, good meals, gospel music, traveling across the United States, and being an independent man.
Lacy was proceeded in death by wife Helen Johnson, and sons Charles Johnson and Darryl Johnson Sr.
He is survived by sons Lacy Johnson Jr (Barbara), James Johnson and Ronnie Johnson (Vanessa). Daughters Blanche Penn, Marie Wright, Ressie Johnson, Princess Britt and Michelle Johnson all of Charlotte, NC. A host of Grandkids, Great Grandkids, Nieces, Nephews, Relatives, and Friends.
