Larry Edgerton

October 1, 1946 — September 18, 2023

Larry Edgerton was born on October 1, 1946 in Rutherfordton,  North Carolina.  He was the sixth of 13 children born to the late Nathaniel and Thelma Edgerton. He received his early education in the Shelby, N.C. school system until family relocated to Columbus OH in the early 1960’s where he graduated from North High School.  He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, OH.  Upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he served for five years.

While serving in the Air Force, Larry quickly rose in the rank to sergeant. He became a combat radio operator where he intercepted enemy signals.  While serving in the Air Force, Larry was assigned to bases in Vietnam, Philippines, and various other bases overseas.  After an honorable discharge, Larry had many options in his next career and chose to become a police officer where he served on the Columbus, Ohio Police Force. After retiring from the police force, he finally settle on the family trade and became a Master Brick-Mason and was very successful. Larry lived in Maryland and later moved to Charlotte and worked until his health required him to retire.


Upon moving to Charlotte Larry, being a long time believer, focused on the church home at The Park Church.   He joined and became involved in a few ministries i.e, The Watchman and Transportation Ministries.  Larry loved nothing more than being with his family and celebrating big family gatherings. He also love to travel and traveled extensively abroad.



Left to cherish his memory, are his sisters, Lillian Brantley of Alexandria, VA, Joyce Edwards of Silver Spring, MD. Four brothers,  Jerry Edgerton of Phoenix, AZ, Harry Edgerton(Brenda) of Columbus, Ohio, Tyrone Edgerton of Columbus, OH and Richard Edgerton (Brenda) of Modesto, California, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
