Larry Owens

On the beautiful Sunday of May 27, 1952, Mr. Leroy and Mrs. Mary (Steele) Owens welcomed
their angel baby, Larry Eugene Owens into the world! On Tuesday, November 15, 2022,
Larry’s earthly duties were deemed fulfilled as he was ordered to heaven by his Lord and Savior.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn “Penny” Owens (Mayfield) of Charlotte, North
Carolina whom he engaged in holy matrimony on Friday, February 21, 1997. His Sister-in-laws,
Marie Owens and Minnie Howie. His children Larry Davis, Reggie Thomas (LaShauna), Earl
Thomas and LeQueint Perry. Grandchildren: Ailiya, Aniya, Aubree, Cesar, Cordell, Derek,
Gabrielle, Gavin, Grayson, Janayshia, Janiya, Jayla, LeQueint Jr.,LeQueirous, Patrice, Reggie
Jr.,Simone, Quanez, and Zion. Great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. His News
Waves of Joy Baptist church family and friends. All who loved and cherished him deeply. Larry is
preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and daughter, Maria “Tuttie” Davis.

During his lifetime, Larry was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system, retired as
a concrete laborer with Crowder Construction Company and served as a Deacon at New Waves
of Joy Baptist Church.

Larry was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and the family requests for his celebration of life on
Saturday, November 26, 2022 all guests to wear “Cowboys” Blue and/or Dallas Cowboys
apparel in his honor!
