Leon Moore

Leon D. Moore Sr. 76, of Charlotte NC passed away on Thursday May 21, 2020 at his home with family. Leon Moore Sr. was born February 28, 1944, in Savannah Georgia. He was a graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School class of 1962. Leon honorably served in the US Air Force for 18 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He later worked for the City of Savannah until retirement. He was the patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He was a loving husband, a great father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them. "Poppy" was a loving grandfather and proud great-grand father A man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones, “just make sure you take care of Belle when I'm gone”. He was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many! Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Rogers, Thelma Moore, and sister Gail Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lillie Belle Moore; sister Deborah Williams of Brunswick GA; children, LaDonnia Orr (Jeffrey) of Charlotte NC, Leon Moore Jr. (Kendell) of Columbia SC, LTC Larry Moore Sr. (Marisa) of Fort Leavenworth KS, LaToya Myers (Michael Sr.) Charlotte NC Grandchildren; Brandon, Austin, Ashleigh, Ayana, Michael Jr., Leon III, Kailani, Daijah, Matthew, Larry Jr.; Great Grandchild; Ashton; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
