He was born on March 20, 1930 in Chester, South Carolina. He served in the United States Army and was a retired veteran. Lester worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System for over thirty five years and later retired. He departed this life on April 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife former wife, Mrs. Martha Howard. He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his daughters, Linda Bethea, Gloria Chambers, Nacole Teope and Tina Robinson; son, Terry Howard and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.
