Lillie Mae Lee was born in Richburg, SC, Chester County. She is the daughter of the late Earnest Lee and Diccie Mae Allsbrook (Lewis). Her siblings include the late Ernest Lee, Jr., William E. Allsbrook, and LeVolia Lawrence (Allsbrook). She is survived by her sister Leonia Jones (Barry) of Salisbury, NC, and brother Jerry Allsbrook (Madeline) of Clinton, Maryland, nieces, Candace Daly, Mableton, Georgia, Christina Lewis, Rock Hill, SC, and Amy Villegas-McCleave (Gregory) of Salisbury, NC. Her nephews include Brian Villegas (Sheila), Charlotte, NC, Reginald Villegas, Charlotte, NC, Jerry Allsbrook, Jr. (Tina), Maryland, and Brian Allsbrook (Jamille), Maryland. Lillie had a great love for her seven great-nieces and twelve great-nephews.
Lillie graduated from Finley High School in Chester, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Love and Charity Church in Richburg, SC. After moving to Charlotte, NC, she joined Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Norman E. Kerry. The church at that time was located on 7th Street. She remained a faithful member until her departure. While at Mt. Sinai, she served on the Pastor’s Aide committee, the Hospitality committee, and was a member of the Senior choir.
Lillie Mae worked for nearly fifty years (full and part-time) at Central Piedmont Community College. She worked in the library. She served the students, faculty, and staff in a manner of excellence. She enjoyed her CPCC family and kept in close contact even after retirement.
Lillie had an extensive love for gardening and loved beautiful flowers. She equally enjoyed cooking. Her family spent many holidays at her table, enjoying food and fellowship.
Lillie had a grafted family formed from years of love and kinship. This family includes her bonus sisters, Ms. Rosemary “Bud” Lewis, Ms. Bertha McGill, and Ms. Lindal McGill. The “Thelma” to her Louise, Terry Gomillion. Her dear friends, Ms. Helen Smith and Mr. Earnest Ward. Lillie had an extensive love for her Central Piedmont Community College family of those included are, including Ms. Linda Colbert, Ms. Gail Crawford, Ms. Miriam Jackson, and Ms. Gloria Onukwufor.
