Linda Jean Rogers

August 8, 1959 — November 19, 2021

I don’t think anyone could say the words, “Hey Sweetie Pie” or “How ya’ll doing?” more heartfelt than Linda Jean Rogers. Linda was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and one of the most loyal friends one could have. Linda graced the world with her beautiful presence on August 08, 1959 in Queens, NY. From a baby to the moment she transitioned to heaven, Linda possessed a personality that could never be touched. It is fair to say Linda never met a stranger. Her vivacious personality and love for people opened the door for her to make friends wherever she went.

Linda was a free spirit who loved living life. She was the life of the party. Her multifaced abilities allowed her to embark upon any new challenge and come out victoriously on the other side. Linda was fierce and one of the strongest women you’d ever meet. She wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She treasured her children and family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. The most captivating item about Linda was her compassionate spirit. She possessed a passion in caring for others. If friends and family had to use one sentence to capture Linda’s essence, it would read: A nurturer, full of knowledge, a talking partner and listener, and someone who could look at you and see much more in you than you could ever see in yourself.

Linda attended Forest Hills High School and Queens College of NY. Linda was an intellectual, naturally blessed with the unique ability to solve any problem. In her younger years, Linda applied her genius to the exclusive McCaffrey & McCall New York Advertising Agency. It was there where she cultivated her ability to help and connect with others. She went on to become a Transcriptionist at Park Health Center in the early 1990s up until 2007 and continued to develop her role in healthcare as a Medical Records Custodian at New York Orthopedics from 2007 to 2012. Linda later joined the team at Lenox Hill Hospital where she served as the Executive Assistant, Residency Program Coordinator from year 2012 until her retirement in 2017. Linda remained active in her retirement by serving as the Church Administrative Assistant at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Linda was called to heaven on Friday, November 19, 2021. Gone in the physical, but never in spirit, Linda is survived in legacy by her three beautiful daughters: Candace Ferguson, Lisa Rogers, and Christiana Ihekuna. Siblings: Joseph Rogers and Nelson Rogers. Grandchildren: Aniyah Weeks and Maxwell Byrd. Nieces and nephews: Michael Mitchell, Nicole Rogers, Isaiah Rogers and Miah Rogers. Linda also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends to cherish her beautiful memories.

The bond Linda shared with her daughters was unbreakable. Her daily acts of love were indicative of the importance of family within her heart. Through her, her daughters will know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Linda. Linda embodied what we know to be “a beautiful person.” The most beautiful people we have known are those who have endured defeat, encountered suffering, struggle, loss, and have found their way out of the depths. They understand nothing lasts forever, not pain, nor joy; that joy cannot exist without sadness. Relief cannot exist without pain. Compassion cannot exist without cruelty. Courage cannot exist without fear. Hope cannot exist without despair. Wisdom cannot exist without suffering. Gratitude cannot exist without deprivation. Paradoxes abound in this life. Living is an exercise in navigating within them. Beautiful people do not just happen. When you think of Linda remember to love and live life to the fullest just as she would.
