Lorraine Cooper is the daughter of the late Woodrow and Henrietta Hudson. Lorraine was born December 18, 1945 in Matthews, NC. She joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Dr. Rev. James F. Worth and Dr. Rev. Paul W. Drummond, where she served for many years on the usher board. Lorraine's earthly life slipped away Friday, November 6, 2020 at Royal Park of Matthews Rehabilitation and Health Center. Lorraine was educated in the Mecklenburg County School System and graduated from Second Ward High School in 1965. Mrs. Cooper worked as a care giver for many years and was a very hard worker who cared about her patients. Lorraine loved to cook and make delicious meals, and fed her family and friends. Lorraine, who loved her sisters, was a good listener and very dependable. Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband (Leon Cooper), parents (Woodrow and Henrietta Hudson), two brothers (Rev. Robert Hudson, Samuel Hudson), stepson (Alton Delmonte Cooper), and stepdaughter (Utrena Carter). She leaves seven sisters to continue her service of legacy: Sadie M. Sturdivant (Leroy, deceased), Letha Collins (Bernard, deceased), Willie Mae Millsaps (Jay, deceased), Geneva Walker (Joe, deceased), Lizzie Meadows (Judge), Lula Dreher (Thomas), and Polly Cherry (Harold). A stepdaughter (Brenda McCleave), stepson (Jermaine Cooper), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who had a special place in her heart. The funeral will be at 1pm on Friday, November 13, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1401 North Allen Street. Visitation will precede at 12 pm.
