Mrs. Louella Stewart Currence, 93, of Charlotte, North Carolina, departed this life peacefully on November 25, 2020, at her home with her loving niece and caregiver Tawana Young at her bedside. "Auntie," as she was known by family and caregivers, was born on November 20, 1927, in York, South Carolina, to the late Jack and Anna Lee Stewart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Currence, sons Andre "Andy" Stewart and Richard Currence, sisters Robbie Lee Stewart Smith, Anna Lee Stewart, and brother Void Lee Stewart. Mrs. Louella Currence spent most of her adult life in Jamaica, Queens, New York. She worked as a medical prescriptions processor with Pfizer Pharmaceutical for many years before retiring and moving to Charlotte, NC, to be closer to her family. She loved fine clothes, jewelry, traveling, and hanging out with her sister and niece after retirement. Her love for her sister was a supernatural love. The words and sound, yelled out "Robbie Lee," will forever ring in our ears, as we often heard throughout her life! Mrs. Louella Currence had a feisty, lively, courageous, and strong spirit that was demonstrated everywhere she went and with everyone she met. It was this same spirit that was loved and enjoyed at her adult daycare, Gracious Living. The care and love that she received at Gracious Living and at home around family sustained her longevity! She is survived by her nephew and niece, Sylvester and Angela Thomas, whom she lived with for the last five years of her life; nephew Gregory Smith, whom she often referred to as her son; other nephews, nieces, one daughter-in-law, Ann Currence, fourteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends.
