Magdalene was born to the late Fisher Creft and Ada Blackmon Reid in Union County.
Magdalene Reid, affectionately known to many as Maggie or Mag, was a beacon of warmth and joy to everyone who knew her. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and creativity, woven together through her many roles and passions.
In April of 1973, She married the late John Wesley Yarbrough. From this union, there were three daughters, and three sons.
As a young woman, Magdalene pursued her passion for hospitality and nurturing others by honing her skills in the culinary arts, interior design, and hospitality. Her kitchen was a place of solace and celebration, where laughter mingled with the hearty dishes she prepared with love. Magdalene's hands were rarely idle, and her creativity extended far and wide. She enjoyed sewing, making floral arrangements, quilting, traveling, serving her church community, and spending time with family members. Magdalene traveled to visit her relatives and friends often.
Magdalene accepted the Lord at a young age and served as a Missionary in her community and served the Lord with gladness. She was a devout servant of the Lord and was dedicated and committed to living a Christ filled life.
Magdalene Reid was called home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2025. As the cherished matriarch of her family, she touched countless lives with her strength, warmth, and unwavering love. She leaves to cherish her children, Felicia Yarbrough, Shawn Yarbrough Meachem (Durand), Vonne Gretchen Bowman (Jerry), all of Charlotte, NC, sons Gary Yarbrough (Brenda), Eric Yarbrough (Tamela) of Pennsylvania, and Greg Jones of Charlotte, sisters Berthine Waters of Washington, DC, Sadie Davis of Charlotte, Diane Sanders, (Jimmy) in Peachland. She has 12 grandchildren, Bria, Timesha, Nicholas, RJ, Paige, Zada, Zola, Blake, Sacoyia, Virgil, Jerrica, Eric II, and 12 great grandchildren in Charlotte and Pennsylvania along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and special friend to the family, Alashia Gellineau.
