Maggie Mccain-Harris

Mrs. Maggie McCain Harris was born in Charlotte, NC on March 21, 1938 to the late Geneva McCain Beatty and Calvin Jones, Sr. She graduated from West Charlotte Senior High School and from Barber-Scotia College. She received her LPN license from Central Piedmont Community College. Maggie was employed at Mercy Hospital for nine years and with Planned Parenthood for eighteen. She also worked for Bayada Nurses Homecare until her illness. She was a member of the National Black Nurses Association and the Order of Eastern Star. Maggie attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church until she joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 1989. She also enjoyed fishing and found it to be relaxing in her spare time. Maggie McCain Harris leaves to cherish her fond memories: her loving husband, Troy Harris; six brothers, Calvin Jones, Jr., Leonard Jones (Donna), Harold Jones, David Jones of Orangeburg, NJ, Michael Jones (Karen) of Baltimore, MD and Bernard Nixon of Matthews, NC; four sisters, Doris Boyd, Shirley Elder, Frances A. Jones and Cynthia J. Calhoun (Lawson) of St. Louis, MO; four step-daughters, Adrain, Vanessa, Myra and Phyllis Harris and one step-son, Troy Johnson all of Charlotte, NC; ten step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great grandchildren and one god-daughter, Erica Scott; one uncle, Henry Glen Jones; one aunt, Frances Jones Phifer (Ulysses); two special cousins, Naomi McClain and Ivy Kearse and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 16th, at 1 pm at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 Beatties Ford Rd., Charlotte, NC with the Visitation from 12-1.
