Marion Causey, Jr.

July 30, 1950 — September 6, 2024

Dr. Causey was the first in his family to earn a college degree, exemplifying the importance of education.  After graduating from Mohawk Senior High School, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Political Science from Central State University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).  He continued his studies, obtaining a master’s in Administration and Special Education from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Leadership Philosophy from The Ohio State University, paving the way for his siblings, nieces, and nephews, and countless others to follow.

Dr. Causey was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and a beloved figure on Columbus’s East Side.  He was dedicated to his community, serving as a Board Member of the Eldon and Elsie Ward Family YMCA for several years.  His passions included luxury cars, sports, travel, and fitness, with cycling and swimming at the YMCA among his favorite activities.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Causey is survived by a host of family, friends, and a community that admired and respected him.

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.  His ashes will be scattered in a place that meant the world to him.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Eldon and Elsie Ward Family YMCA in Columbus, Ohio.  Click here for their site: https: https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/ward
