Mary White

Mrs. Mary M. White, “Toppy”, was born August 9, 1936, and departed this life on Sunday May 2, 2021, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. She was born the only daughter to the late Joseph Grier and the late Carrie Grier.

Mrs. White attended the Berean Seventh Day Adventist School as a child. She then graduated from Second Ward High School. She worked for over 20 years as a Head Cook at Charlotte Country Day School. She loved her job very much. After her retirement she started her own cleaning service which she operated for 5 years.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Vicki Cuthbertson, a grandson, Nathan Cuthbertson, and her 3 brothers, Willie James, James Henry, and Frankie, all of Charlotte NC.

Mrs. White leaves to cherish her memories, her children all of Charlotte, NC: son, Woodrow White, and daughters Katherine Boyd (James), Anita Walker (Rollie), and Zab Neely (Jeff); thirteen grandchildren Cheri Lindsay (Chris) of Snead’s Ferry, NC, Anthony Cuthbertson, Derrick Cuthbertson, JoAndrea Cuthbertson, Shanika Thompson, Woodrow Thompson, Jeremy White (Aleda), of Goldsboro, NC; Tammy Boyd, Tiffany Massey (Curtis), Rollie F. Walker, Kimberly White, and Kevin Neely; 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She also has a loving family of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will always share her memories.

The family would like to thank Atrium Health – Mercy, Levine & Dickson Hospice House and two special care givers whom she loved, Patrice Henderson and Shanika Thompson for their services. We the children, would also like to thank our father, Woodrow R. White, Sr., for his love and continued support of his children during this time.
