Happy beloved Maudie Brantley (affectionately known as “Bet”) was born on December 13, 1939 in Lancaster, SC to the lake Clarence T. Frazier and Ethel Mae Robinson. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday June 25, 2025.
Maudie was the eldest daughter of her ten siblings. She graduated from Hillside High School in Heath Springs SC. Maudie grew up in Lancaster, SC where she also attended St. Paul AME Zion Church.
In 1956, as a young adult, Maudie moved to Brooklyn, NY where she met the love of her life, Nathaniel Brantley. She attended Hofstra University and obtained her bachelor's degree. Maudie began her career at Merrill Lynch and work many years in the banking industry until retirement.
Nathaniel and Maudie married and together raised two sons Tarek and Derek. As a family, they later moved to Dix Hills in Long Island, NY. Maudie was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Huntington Station, NY under the leadership of Rev. Larry Washington. During her 40 years of worship, she served on the following: Pastor's Aide, Trustee, as well as being a supporter of Women's Day, Grandma's Day activities.
On May 23, 2025, Maudie and Nathaniel celebrated their 62nd anniversary. Maudie was a devoted wife, loving mother to Tarek and Derek and endearing grandmother to Jon, Jacob and Brooklyn. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare meals for her family from her delicious lasagna to homemade cakes and pies. She had a compassion for gardening and loved spending time in her beautiful backyard enjoying the view of the many shrubs and flowers she had planted. Those who were honored to know Maudie knew she was very refined and was also a “fashionista” who loved her sunglasses, designer handbags and shoes.
Maudie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Hazel, Arthur, Wardell, Marvin and Heyward. Maudie leaves the cherish fond memories, her husband, Nathaniel, two sons Tarek and Derek, three grandchildren, Jacob, Jon and Brooklyn, two brothers, Otis (Lutricia), Eugene (Yarlanda), three sisters, Mildred, Louvenia, Ruby Doris (Lecove), sister-in-law Barbara Ravenell, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and Friends
