On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, Michael O’Day Johnson, Sr., quietly left his well-planned journey to his new home in Glory. In sweet peace, he departed this life of 69 years at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. Born on November 14, 1951, in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of Gene and Carrie Hamilton. His formal education was received at Kingville High School in Albemarle, NC. He retired from Smith Janitorial Services in 2014, but he continued to work well after his retirement. He is preceded in death by both his parents; a son, Michael O’Day Johnson, Jr.; a step-son, Vodrick Roberts; and a sister, Linda Gail Johnson. Left in the sunshine of life are his wife of 30-plus years, Naomi Johnson; son, Travis (Tilwanda) Johnson; step-son, Johnathan Roberts; three brothers, Ricky (Gloria) Hamilton of Mint Hill, NC, Danny (Sharon) Hamilton of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony (Marcella) Hamilton of New London, NC; five sisters, Iris (Bobby) of Midland, NC, Phyliss (Larry) Robinson of Albemarle, NC, Angela (Timothy) Scott of Albemarle, NC, Regina (EC) McCoy of Winston-Salem, NC, Wyvonnia (Timothy) Morgan of Salisbury, NC; five grandkids, Iyanna, Nikeem Douglas, Keenan, and Jamir Bralyn Johnson of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
