Mildred I. Barringer

August 19, 1945 — July 6, 2025

Mildred Irene Anderson Barringer, affectionately known as “Mill,” was born on August 19, 1945, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Joe Boyce Anderson and Hazel Caldwell Anderson. She was the sixth child of eight children. She was a proud graduate of Torrence-Lytle High School in Huntersville, NC, Class of 1963.

Mildred began her career at Western Electric Telephone Company. Demonstrating her dedication to growth, she later attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. Her education paved the way for a distinguished 30-year career serving families with compassion at Alexander’s Funeral Home.

Above all, Mildred was a devoted Woman of Faith. Her life was a testament to her deep love for God, her family, and her church. A long-time, cherished member of Park Ministries, she actively served in numerous capacities. Her passion was sharing her gift of song, faithfully singing in several choirs and traveling extensively to support Bishop Alexander at his engagements. Mildred’s unwavering trust in the Lord was the cornerstone of her life and her advice to others. To anyone facing challenges, she offered gentle, steadfast counsel: “Trust God,” “Pray about it,” “Don’t give up because Jesus never fails,” and “God is in Control.” These principles guided her steps and comforted countless hearts. This beacon of faith and love departed this earthly life peacefully and surrounded by family on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joe Boyce and Hazel Caldwell Anderson; her brothers, Robert Joe Anderson and Rev. Eugene Anderson; and her sisters, Marjorie R. Sherrill and Georgia M. Anderson.

She leaves behind a profound legacy of love and devotion for her family to cherish forever: Her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Sammy Lee Barringer of Charlotte, NC. Her son, Samuel W. Barringer (Mary) of Charlotte, NC. Her daughter, Nokisha Yasiha Barringer of Charlotte, NC. Her treasured grandsons, Lalique Tylan Walk and Nico Jaden Walk of Charlotte, NC. Her sisters: Mary V. Anderson of New York, NY; Hazeline V. Sherrill of Charlotte, NC; and Mable A. Redic of Huntersville, NC. One special sister-in-law: Ola M. Anderson of Concord, NC.  Extended Siblings: Melvin Graham (Cleo) of Rhode Island; Gwen Graham of New York, NY; Maurice Graham (Kenia) of Boston, MA; Vernal Gaston of Winston-Salem, NC. Her faithful God Sister, Patricia “Pat” Mason. One aunt, Winnie Clark of Charlotte, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends whose lives she deeply touched.

Mildred Irene Anderson Barringer, "Mill," will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her unwavering faith, her beautiful voice lifted in praise, her comforting words, and her boundless love for her family. She leaned on the everlasting arms of her Savior, and her legacy of faith and love endures.
