Minnie Bell Benjamin Whiting

Mrs. Minnie Bell Whiting, first child of the late, Walter Eugene Benjamin, Sr. and the late Annie Smith Benjamin was born on August 26,1929 . She departed this life on December 8, 2015. At an early age she joined the Red Hill Baptist Church in Cassatt, South Carolina. She relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and joined St. Paul Baptist Church on McDowell Street. Minnie retired from Harris Teeter and still worked part time at the Bank of America Stadium supporting her beloved Charlotte Panthers. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Sam Whiting, her parents, one brother, Walter Benjamin, Jr., three sisters, Etta Mae Duncan, Geneva Lee and Doretha Benjamin, two nephews and two nieces. Left to cherish her fond memories are her son: James L. Jones (Marilyn); five sisters, Phyllis and Nora Dean Benjamin of Brooklyn, New York, Jerline Dubose of Atlanta, Georgia , Shirley Richardson (Bill) and Ellen Benjamin of Charlotte, North Carolina; step-daughter, Christine Phillips of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
