Barry Scott Gray of Charlotte, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 31,
2023, at home with his loving wife and children by his side.
Barry was born October 20, 1967, in Newark, New Jersey. Barry graduated high school from
Essex Catholic High School in East Orange, NJ. He then matriculated at Northeastern
University, Boston, MA. While at Northeastern, Barry played football as a cornerback for the
Northeastern Huskies. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in communication, television,
and radio. It was there where Barry met the love of his life Dolores (Davis) Gray; from this
union, they have two children.
Barry was a lifelong resident of New Jersey until he and his family relocated to Charlotte, NC in
2006.
Barry was passionate about putting his children and family first. He volunteered as a football
coach at Plainfield Cardinals Pop Warner football (NJ), Youth 49er Football (NC), Vance High
School (NC), and was a Band Dad at both James Martin Middle School and Vance High School.
His infectious personality and desire to help others blessed his family and all who came in
contact with him.
Barry was a sports enthusiast, a lifelong New York Giants fan, and a Foodie. He also took pride
in being physically active.
Barry and his college football teammates would come together and have reunions coined
“Huskies For Life” for members of the Northeastern University football team. He attended his
first reunion in June.
Barry worked as a Transmission/Ingest operator for Fox Sports in Charlotte, NC.
Barry leaves to cherish his 30 years of marriage with his loving wife, Dolores Gray, and his two
loving children Barry Scott Jr. and Deanna Nicole. His mother, Margaret (Peggy) Gray,
grandmother, Barbara Bronston, brother Malik Gray (Joelle), aunt Kim McGrady (Charles);
nieces and nephews - Jaire, Miyan, Jayla, Ciara, Jack III, and Jacob. Mother-in-law Alma Davis,
Brother-in-law Jack W. Davis (Crystal), Sister-in-Law, Keshia Davis, and a very close cousin
Mark Gray. Barry also had a multitude of loved cousins, teammates, and friends.
Barry is preceded in death by his father Barry Gray, his aunt Deborah Gray, uncles Larry Gray
and Milton Gray, father-in-law Jack Davis, and grandfather Owen Bronston.
