Mr. Bronnie Emanuel Cummings was born April 21, 1954, in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC to the
late Muncie Cummings Sr. and Margaret Boyd Cummings. He transitioned to his Heavenly Home on
Friday, April 21, 2023. He was proceeded in death by both parents, Muncie and Margaret Cummings,
sisters Sandra Cummings, Denise “Fronza” Cummings Truesdell, sister-in-law Cynthia Truesdale
Cummings, nephew Dequila (Shug) Cummings.
Bronnie grew up in Ebenezer Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC where his spiritual foundation was first
established. He was a member of the children’s Usher Board. Bronnie was a fan of all sports, but football and basketball were his best loves, including his black and gold favorites, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was known in the neighborhood as "SLIM", and "Bronnie Man". Bronnie had a passion for traveling the world and meeting new people. He was a people person; a charmer and he never met a stranger.
Bronnie was a 1972 graduate of Harry P. Harding High School. He was a graduate of the University of
North Carolina at Charlotte earning a BS in Accounting & Finance. He earned his MBA in International Business from Fairleigh Dickerson University in New Jersey. Bronnie's career began at an early age being employed by Diamond Shamrock Chemical CO and was later transferred to their Morristown, New Jersey Office. He was later employed by Johnson & Johnson Corporation for many years in New Jersey. Bronnie later joined Denny’s Corporation in Spartanburg, SC to diversify/rebrand their name. Bronnie decided to relocate his family to Greenville, SC and from there back to Charlotte, NC. He was employed by Bank of America as director of Financial Planning for 5 years. With his drive, aspiration, and entrepreneur dreams, Bronnie decided to start his own business. He started BEC Mobile Tax preparation. Bronnie earned his real estate license, and was a business manager of Creating Homes LLC, and part owner of LABBEC Real Estate Investment LLC.
Bronnie was a true definition of lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a member of Big Brother in New Jersey. He spent time weekly being a mentor to countless young children as well as assisting teachers in the classroom sharing his genius in mathematics.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his beautiful daughter Marlonda Cummings of Atlanta, Ga. Lifelong devoted friend, Sheila Cummings. Sister: Alice Cummings, Brothers: Muncie Cummings (Havana) and Terry Cummings. Nephews: Tyland Cummings, Shawn Bufford (Camile), Niece: Jenelle Cummings, all of Charlotte, NC. One Aunt: Helen Egleston of Charlotte, NC. One brother-in-law Yul Truesdell. Special Friends: Harry Stover (Chocolate) and James Houston (Fatz) and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Bronnie enjoyed life and the last words he shared with his daughter hours before he left this world on his birthday were that Life was to be enjoyed. Travel and see the world. Be happy as tomorrow is not promised.
