Mr. Dennis Jerome Strain

Dennis J. Strain was born December 14, 1954 to the late Hazel and Mattie Strain in
Charlotte, North Carolina. He peacefully departed this life on June 13, 2023.
A native of Charlotte, Dennis spent his entire adult life in Mecklenburg County
and attended the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. He spent most of his
employment career working for his father’s Cement Construction Company. He
was a devoted and very active worker and gained many lifelong friendships
throughout his life.
Dennis had a sense of humor that reflected his inner warm qualities. He was
outspoken and had a tower of confidence which gained him the respect of those
who knew him. After he became incapacitated and could no longer work in the
construction business with his father, he enjoyed setting up his sister’s backyard
for her annual cookouts on Memorial Day weekends. Unfortunately, he became
more ill from a number of ailments that further deteriorated his health to the point
that he was no longer able to function as a normal human being.
Dennis was preceded in death by four of his brothers; Reginald at an early age,
Hazel Jr, (February 1994), Timothy (April 1994) and Willie (July 1994), one sister;
Ernestine Strain Thompson.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memories his oldest brother; Clarence D. Strain of
Washington, DC., one sister; Annie M. Strain of Charlotte, North Carolina and a
loving sister – in- law; Ruby D. Strain of Washington, DC. And a host of nephews,
nieces, cousins relatives and friends.
