Mrs. Cora Lee Stitt

Mrs. Cora Lee Stitt was born April 2, 1924, in York County, South Carolina to the late William and Elizabeth Smith. She departed this life on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Cora was employed with Mercy Hospital as a CNA for over 40 years and was a member of the hospital’s bowling team, the Mercy-Ette’s. She was a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church for over 50 years where she sang on the Mass Choir and was a part of the Rose of Sharon ministry.

Cora was preceded in death by her beloved husband Van Stitt, Sr., daughter Mattie Sturdivant and son Reginald Stitt.

She is survived by one brother Haywood Smith, sons Dr. Van Stitt, Jr., Wayne Stitt (Evelyn), Michael Stitt (Sharon), Donald Stitt, Gerald Stitt (Karen), Larry Stitt and Keith Stitt (Judy); daughters Peggy Stitt-Hunter, Jaqueline Stitt and Bonita Stitt; 19 grandchildren, Tonya Strong, Sharon Graham, Antonio Alexander, Steven Strong, Rodney Watt, James D. Stitt, Latesha Hunter, Precious Moore, Justin Stitt, Janae Stitt, Brittany Stitt, Breon Stitt, Geri Stitt, Reginald Stitt, Jr., Donald Stitt, Jr., Alicia Stitt, Wayne Stitt, Jr. and Avery Staley; 24 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
