Mrs. Daisy Davis

August 2, 1933 — June 9, 2023

Mrs. Daisy Ford Harris Davis, (age 89), the daughter of the late John and Hester M. Ford, was born August 2, 1933, in Lancaster County, South Carolina.  She entered eternal rest on June 9, 2023, at her residence in Charlotte, NC.

During her earthly stay, Mother Daisy overcame and accomplished many remarkable things.  Due to family hardship, Mother Davis left school at an early age to care for her siblings and work the farm.  After raising her seven children, Mother Daisy went on to receive her high school diploma at the age of 50 as well as her nursing assistant certification.  Both achievements were accomplished at the Teamer Adult Education Center in Charlotte, NC.  Mother Davis worked in the healthcare field for 65 years.  Throughout her life, Mother Davis was known to others, far and near, for her generosity and her compassionate spirit.

Mother Daisy was preceded in death by her parents:   John Ford and Hester McCardell Ford; husband:  Howard Davis; six sisters:  Louise F. Anthony, Jessie Lee Johnson, Johnnie Mae Massey, Eula Mae Ballard, Beulah Ford, Mamie Lee Blair; three brothers:  Robert Ford, Melvin Ford, and William Ford; and three sons: Howard J. Harris, William Massey, and John H. Harris.

Left to cherish her fond memories are her children:  David L. Harris, Mary F. Hill, Thomas Massey, and Clayton J. (Sharon) Harris of Charlotte, NC; two sisters and one brother:   Odessa “Lottie” Horton, Hattie F. Thomas and Joe (Brenda) Ford, respectively; 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mother Daisy was a faithful worker in the ministries of:  Nursing, Ushering, Missionary, Intercessory Prayer Team, Women of Prayer, Gospel Choir, as well as the Outreach Ministry. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for 78 years.   Mother Daisy will forever be remembered in our hearts for her beautiful smile, warm spirit, and her gentle, soft-spoken, angelic voice!
