Nellie Mae Killian, at 102, transitioned from time to eternity on March 22, 2023. She was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on June 04, 1920 to the late Annie Morrison and in her youth moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Nellie Mae lived her life as a Domestic Worker. She took pride in taking care of others ensuring that their homes were taken care of and their wardrobe stayed sharp. She was a lifelong member of Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the Hospitality Committee, Hymn Choir and MotherBoard. Nellie Mae was affectionately recognized as “Mother” and “Grandma” by everyone all her life from the time she lived in RoseLand Apartments to the halls of Carrington’s Place Nursing Home. Nellie Mae leaves a legacy of being a loving, caring, vibrant, peaceful and humble Mother. She spent her time as a young mother ensuring her children were taken care of before getting to grade school, serving those she loved, and being a babysitter for grands and great-grands. She passed on the skills she had to her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren including cooking, ironing, and learning what it means to be selfless and to accept discipline with love.
She is preceded in death by her Late Husband Walter Killian, brother Willie Nash (Fannie Mae Nash), sisters Elizabeth Barren and Marie Jones and two of her sons Walter Killian Jr and Sammie Killian (Bonita Killian). She leaves her six children Marie Woods, Patricia McMillian, Beatrice Mason, Leroy Killian (Sandra Killian), Carolyn Thompson, Marilyn Johnson, 24 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, 16 Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of family and friends to carry on her memory.
