Mrs. Tabatha Javonne Richard

September 9, 1978 — February 28, 2023

Mrs. Tabatha JaVonne Richard was born September 9 th , 1978, in Charlotte, NC, and departed
her earthly life on Tuesday, February 28 th , 2023. She was one of two children born to William
and Burnadette Moreland.

Tabatha was educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She attended Long Creek Elementary,
J.M. Alexander Middle, and North Mecklenburg High schools. She also attended (and was an
avid fan) North Carolina State University. She was an educator for over ten years. She especially
enjoyed teaching her students music and art. She used her talents to give back to Charlotte
Mecklenburg Schools in her early years, then transitioned to Chesterbrook Academy in
Huntersville, where she spent most of her teaching career. Later, her gift for organization and
love for animals would manifest in a reception position at Dogs All Day pet daycare. Tabatha’s
passions extended beyond employment as she provided spiritual guidance, a hearty laugh, and a
warm presence to relatives, neighbors, and friends. She always offered a “real” perspective and
made sure everyone felt welcome around her.

Tabatha loved to express herself creatively. She maintained Designs by the Art Teacher, a small
business that featured hand-painted art, hand-made crafts, party planning, and instructional sessions. One thing that everyone says about Tabatha is that she had a special light, and her happy spirit and easy-going attitude were contagious. Tabatha was a member of Faith Liberation Community Christian Church (FLCCC) and passionately worked in several areas of ministry. She was an elder and served in the music, production, dance, youth and community outreach ministries.

Tabatha loved celebrating life with friends and family, no matter theoccasion! She always brought the party with her. She believed everyone should be surrounded by people they love and those who love them. She enjoyed visiting new places, trying new things, and making new friends. Even though she made it clear that she did not take any disrespect from anyone, she was a kind soul that would go against the grain to make you feel loved. She was firm in her beliefs, and she loved the Lord.

Tabatha leaves to cherish her memory, husband Malcolm Gary Richard; parents William and Burnadette Moreland; daughter Raven Ready Kerns (Joseph Kerns); sons David Ready II and Jalen Ready; brother William Moreland IV; aunts Robbie Johnson, Harriette Mahoney, and Delores Cassell; uncle Richard Moreland (Cynthia); mother-in-law Gail W. Richard; brother-in-law Elbert Richard III; sister-in-law Shayla Richard and a host of cousins, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
