Nedra Everly was born on March 13, 1947, to the late Roelette Potter and Richard Everly, Sr. in Chicago, IL. She was educated in Chicago Public Schools, attending both Farragut and Parker High Schools. She graduated from St. Mary of Nazareth School of Nursing and obtained her RN license in 1972. In 2003, Nedra graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years and she retired from the Mecklenburg County Health Department in December 2014. Nedra was passionate about her faith and gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She served in various ministries at Apostolic Church of God, Chicago, IL; Victory Apostolic Church, Matteson, IL; and New Bethel Church of God in Christ, Charlotte, NC. Her favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11 KJV "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Nedra was a world traveler and had easily been to over 20 countries and 4 continents. Her favorite destination was the Australian cruise or anywhere her best friend Eugenia wanted to go. Nedra loved gardening, cooking and baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and sending cards to those she loved for any occasion. Preceding her in death are her parents, Roelette Potter Bean and Richard Everly, Sr.; lifetime sister-friends, Clarice Walker, Eugenia Chambers, Alveana Cunningham, Dr. E. Evelina Powers, and Doretta Nelson. Nedra is survived by her two daughters, Monica L. Martin, Irving, TX and Andrea (Bryan) Baker, Cooper City, FL; sister, Roelette Smith, Chicago, IL; brother, Richard A. Everly II, Chicago, IL; step-sister Pamela Bean; grandchildren Jared Baker, Brandon Baker, and Bryanna Baker; nephew Thomas (Kimberly) Smith; niece/goddaughter Michelle (Deron) Walker Smith; special cousin Emmitt C. House; loving friends, Pamela Johnson, Kaylinda Bundick, and Colette Simmons; and a host of cousins, friends, and church family. Services will be held at a later date in Charlotte and Chicago.
