A loving husband, Nelson cherished and nurtured a marriage that was a testament to enduring love. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and as a present father, he created a home filled with love, guidance, and old school family values. To those he welcomed into his family through marriage, he was not just a stepfather; he was a master of blending hearts and creating a tapestry of shared love.

In addition to his roles within the family, Nelson was a honorary Mason, contributing to the principles of brotherhood, charity, and community service. His commitment to Masonic ideals reflected his deep sense of duty and compassion, leaving a lasting mark on the fraternity and the lives he touched within it.

As a long-term scout leader, mentor, and father figure, Nelson's influence extended far beyond his immediate family. His leadership within the scouting community shaped the character and values of countless individuals. Always the life of the party, Nelson had a talent for weaving humor into every moment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nelson Rankin will be held on November 27, 2023. Visitation will be at 11am with memorial service following at noon at Friendship Baptist Church (3301 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 281216). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the National Kidney Foundation in Nelson's name.

May his love and legacy continue to illuminate our lives, and may he rest in eternal peace.
