Nicole Michelle Williams, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, talent, and service to others. Born on December 4, 1971, in Newark, New Jersey, Nicole was the cherished daughter of Sandra Williams and the late Edwin B. Armstrong.
Growing up, Nicole was a spirited and vibrant child who brought energy and laughter wherever she went. She developed a love for music, competition, and community early in life—interests that would remain central throughout her journey. While attending high school, Nicole excelled on the basketball court, where her quick footwork and confidence earned her the affectionate nickname “Shake and Bake.” Her passion for the game and her team-first mentality made her a standout athlete and a respected teammate.
After graduating high school, Nicole attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she continued to grow academically and personally. She later returned to New Jersey to begin a successful professional career in Information Technology. Over the years, Nicole served in many roles, most recently as a Data Engineer on a government contract. She was known for her intelligence, dedication, and ability to solve complex problems with care and precision.
Outside of her professional life, Nicole was deeply connected to music. An accomplished deejay, she was known in the Charlotte house music community as DJ Kneeka, where she was admired for her sound, creativity, and ability to bring people together through music. Deejaying was more than a hobby—it was an extension of her spirit and her way of creating joy and connection.
Nicole was passionate about giving back to her community and had a special heart for working with and supporting youth. Her philanthropic nature, generosity, and willingness to uplift others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Nicole was predeceased by her father, Edwin B. Armstrong (2018); her grandfather, Percival E. Scott (2005); and her grandmother, Willia Mae Scott (2016).
She is survived by her loving mother and stepfather, Sandra Williams-Wynn and James Wynn; her sister and brother-in-law, Raven Williams and Dwayne Tillman; her beloved niece, Nyla Tillman; her devoted partner, Karen Worrell; her aunts, Donna Fuller (Howard) and Melvina (Penny) Hairston; along with a host of cousins, close friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Home, 1424 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28206. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by services at 12:00 p.m. Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home website for those who are unable to attend.
