Paul Vincent Huntley, Sr “Vince”, 74 passed away on November 15th in Charlotte, NC.
Son of Helen Huntley (Crowder), he was born May 9, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the oldest of 5 children and grew up in Wadesboro, NC, graduating from Bowman High School in 1968. He attended North Carolina A&T for 3 years where he was a student activist and member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.
He spent many summers in Philadelphia working various jobs and accumulating diverse experiences and stories. He had a unique passion for driving and possessed a keen sense of direction. You could tell him nearly any city or town on the East Coast and he could verbally navigate you there from memory with detail that rivaled GoogleMaps (and before GoogleMaps existed). His knowledge of highways and state roads served him well throughout his nearly 30-year career driving for UPS. When he was not working, he enjoyed gardening and watching old Westerns on television.
Vince was a beloved father, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. He also shared a unique bond with his cousin Jerry. A bond so special that they referred to each other affectionately as “Bruh”. His passing, though sudden and unexpected, was quick and peaceful.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen, and sisters Roslyn and Cassandra. He is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Catherine Huntley of Charlotte, NC, his sons Jitu and Paul, Jr., sisters Audrey and Judy, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The viewing be at Alexander Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23 at 11am with the funeral to begin immediately after at noon. Arrangements are in the care of Alexander Funeral Home, 1424 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
