Queen Ellis

March 16, 1910 — May 15, 2013

Ms. Queen Kennedy Ellis departed this life on May 15, 2013 at Hunter Woods Nursing Home of Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born in Lowery, South Carolina, and attended their public schools. She was married to the late Deacon John Ellis. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church until her health failed. She worked in a number of ministries including being a deaconess, an usher and leader of the Jr. ushers, the missionaries and matron. She received several awards for her work in the church. She is survived by six nieces, Mary Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mamie Patton of Miami, Florida, Mary Smith of Washington, D.C., Joan Lily, LaVerne Walker and Regina Wright all of Charlotte, North Carolina; three nephews, Lemuel and Samuel Belton of Washington, D.C. and Theodore Patton of Miami, Florida, and a host of friends in and outside of the church who loved her dearly and will surely miss her. Funeral service will be Monday, May 20th at 12noon at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1401 N. Allen Street, Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Oaklawn Park Cemetery. Alexander is serving the Ellis Family.
