Deacon Randell Lee Miller, affectionally known as “Pop”, was born November 8, 1948 in
Miami, Florida. He was adopted by a lovely woman who reared him, and he thought of her
as his mother. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday November 16, 2023 at Levine
Dickinson Hospice Center, Huntersville, NC.
Deacon Miller attended Miami Public Schools where he excelled in Chorus. He was
awarded a college scholarship for his voice and singing in choirs. However, Deacon Miller
decided to become a truck driver, and he remained in Transportation for many years. He
was employed by G&P Trucking Company and A-1 Wheelchair Patient Transport Inc.
Relocating to Charlotte in the early 90’s, DeaconMiller was introduced to Sis. Shirley
Gardner by her close married couple friends. They became friends, and the courtship
began. Shirley invited him to church where he fell in love with the church and Sis. Shirley!
He joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John H. Walker in
1993, and shortly thereafter, he married the love of his life, Sis. Shirley Gardner in 1995.
They were happily married for 28 years.
As an active member of Macedonia, Deacon Randell Miller served faithfully in the ministry
by using his God given gifts of music, cooking, teaching, and helping others. Deacon Miller
served on the following ministries: Culinary Ministry, where he served as Armorbearer;
Deacon Family Ministry, Apollonia; The Men of Zion Choir; Men of Zion Ministry; School of
Ministry, where he taught Marriage Class; member of MCOC Village Heartbeat Team; and,
he was always willing to participate in Christmas, Black History, and Easter programs to

He will surely be missed by his family, Church family, and friends.
