Ms. Rebecca A. Culp, "Chock", was born on May 14, 1962, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Dorothy Culp-Sowell, "Ann", and Eve Sowell. On December 13, 2020, God called his loving daughter home. Ms. Rebecca A. Culp attended the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, where she graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. She enrolled in Dudley's Cosmetology School after graduation to pursue her cosmetology license. Rebecca worked at Eckerd Warehouse for over 9 years, then as a Supervisor at the Hyatt House of Charlotte for over 5 years, before opening her own cleaning business, Culp's Cleaning Services. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, daughter, and sister. Born number 7 out of 9 children, Ms. Culp had close family members that she adored: one sister, Linda Culp-McNeil, and one special sister, Diane Cooper; three brothers, James Isom, Willie Culp, and Johnny Sowell, who all preceded her in death. Ms. Rebecca Culp leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Trakelia Culp (Bobby), and Tiffany Culp; and one and only son, Jontavius Mays (Tyresshia), all of Charlotte. Three grandchildren: Noah Mays, Jordan Mays, and Jonah Mays; sisters Helen Culp-Brannon, Gaynell Grier (Calvin Grier, Sr.), and Shirley Sowell; brother Robert Sowell, Sr. (Tara); one aunt, Lisa Culp-Miller; three uncles, Francis Sowell, Calvin Sowell, and Donnie Sowell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
