Rickey Antonio Suber

Mr. Rickey Antonio Suber departed this life and entered into eternal rest on December 24, 2020. Mr. Rickey Antonio Suber, 59, was the youngest child of the late Mr. John C. Suber, Sr., and the late Ms. Love Viner Suber. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on December 6, 1961. Rickey attended Independence High School. While in school he became a student bus driver—some would say that led him to a career in commercial truck driving. Shortly after graduating in 1980, he began his career as a commercial truck driver. Rickey took to commercial truck driving like a duck to water. He quickly advanced, becoming a tractor-trailer driver. After many years of driving he retired from Shoe Show Inc. On August 29, 2008, Rickey was married to his life-long love, Janice Jones, with whom he shared many years of unwavering companionship and love. Together, they proved that you can have both love and friendship without sacrificing either. In his spare time, Rickey enjoyed jogging, working in the yard, home improvement projects, and spending time with his family. As a devoted family man, he always came to the aid of his family. No matter the time of day, he was just a phone call away—always there to lend a helping hand or share great words of advice. Rickey blessed those around him with his contagious laughter and great smile. Rickey demonstrated to us all strength and courage as he battled his health issues. Through it all he was still Rickey, full of love, laughter, and devotion to his family. Preceding him in death are parents: Mr. John C. Suber, Sr., and Ms. Love Viner Suber; brothers, John Suber and Wilbert Suber. Left to cherish his loving memories are: wife, Janice Suber; daughters, Ashley Suber and Natassia Mack (Bruce); granddaughter, Sydney Mack; brother, James Suber (Frances); sister, Carolyn Suber; uncle, Lemual Watkins, Sr.; nieces, Karen Suber, Latonna Boxie (Damon), Nicole Carter-Merritt; nephews, James Suber, Jr., and Darryl Suber (Natasha); best friend, L.C. Melton; a host of family and friends.
