Robert Lee Mccullough

June 14, 1935 — December 15, 2020

Mr. Robert Lee McCullough (Bobby) entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born on June 14, 1935, to the late John Adam McCullough and Annie Mae Blake McCullough. He had two brothers, Johnny McCullough and Charles McCullough; and a son-in-law, Author Lowery, who preceded him in death. Robert graduated in the class of 1955 from West Charlotte High School, where he played football, and the team was the first to win the state championship in 1954. After graduating, he moved to New York, NY, then to Philadelphia, PA, and from there back to Charlotte. Upon returning to Charlotte, he met the love of his life and was married to her for over 60 years, a match made in Heaven. He worked for many years at Sanders Company, retired, and returned to work at Chemical Specialties Inc. for another 30 years. Robert was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a devoted member of the West Charlotte and Second Ward Alumni Breakfast Club. Robert loved to travel and visit with family and friends. The support he provided was impeccable—if anyone needed assistance he was there. He was a true partner to his wife, best father to his daughter, Superhero, but did not wear a cape, to his grandchildren, and uncle/daddy to his nieces and nephews. A true servant of God. Robert Lee McCullough leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Betty Jo McCullough of the home; daughter, Annette McCullough Lowery of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren: Damanian Lowery and Charis Lowery Johnson (Dennis) of Charlotte, NC; sister, Catherine Chapman of Charlotte, NC; brother, Richard McCullough of Antioch, TN; sister-in-law, Natalie Hough of Mineral Springs, NC; three great-grandchildren, Kyra Johnson, JaNaiya Johnson, and DeAsia Johnson of Charlotte, NC; one great-great-granddaughter, Kylah Harrington. Special nephew, Ivan Chapman; special niece, Shelley Hinton; special friend, Easter Johnson. The Bear—Cecil Wallace, The Hammer—Johnny Johnson, The Blood—Robert (Bobby) McCullough: the 3 Amigos, friends for life.
