CW3 Robert “Bob” Louis Williams, son of the late Willis Frank Williams and Mattie Mae Ashley Williams, was born May 21, 1948, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. His earthly life ended on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, after years of battling diabetes, Congestive Heart Disease, and Chronic Kidney Disease.

Robert started his childhood enjoying education and exploring the academic ladder to higher knowledge at Davidson elementary in Kings Mountain, NC. During his teen years, Robert studied education like an adventure while finding new things to do along the way. He attended Lincoln High school in Bessemer City, NC, and participated in multiple activities in school, including accomplishing the position as President of the Student Council until he graduated in 1966. One of Robert’s most significant personal accomplishments in high school was being a high school bus driver and proud of it. Robert attended the University of Maryland and the University of Phoenix for a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.

After high school, Robert decided to fight in Vietnam War and joined the United States Army in 1967.  Robert boot camp was in Ft. Jackson and stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC, served as an ROTC instructor at West Point Military Academy in New York and Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, The Commodores as some of his college buddies.  Robert earned his ranks throughout his military career until he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 class, with Germany being his last duty station for three years.

Upon retiring from the military service, Robert chose San Jose, California, as his destination and quickly, began a computer logistics career with Digital Equipment Corporation in 1989 and purchased by Compaq computer in 1998. Robert was then promoted to Regional manager over thirteen states for Hewlett- Packard computers until he retired in 2006.

He became a member at Good Hope Presbyterian Church (Kings Mountain, NC), Genesis United Methodist (San Jose, CA), St. Mark’s United Methodist (Charlotte, NC), attended (televised) Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist (Charlotte, NC) due to illness. Robert dedicated his life to the Lord in March of 2016 and did not turn back since.

Robert fell in love with Monica in 2003 and married her and her children in Montgomery, Alabama. They moved from San Jose, California, to Charlotte, NC, in 2005. He was a dedicated family man, and he loved his family no matter what. Robert loved all of his nieces and nephews and tried to support them at every event until he could no longer move. Robert enjoyed life and was the life of every party. Entertainment was a big part of Robert, and he loved to tell stories about his family, when he was younger, his time in the military, and his dad’s cafe in Kings Mountain, NC.

Robert leaves with love his wife of almost 18 years, Monica Catrice Hawkins Williams; step-children Jabril Ismail Jones and Aaliyah Khioni Mone’ Jones (Matthews, NC); brother Billy (Dionne) Williams of (Leesburg VA); mother-in-law Mable D Hawkins Brown (Montgomery, AL); sister-in-law Glenda Williams(Kenneth-deceased) (Kings Mountain, NC); sister-in-law Zandra D. Hawkins, Jeanne E. Hawkins Jones, and Tommie Chase Hawkins (Montgomery, AL); brother-in-law Samuel Jones (Jacksonville, FL); and a host of nieces, nephews, godsons, cousins, and many additional relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur and Kenneth Williams; sister, Wilma Hillian; step-daughter, Arielle D. Jones; father-in-law Kenieth Brown.
